The culinary experts from the Reno-Sparks area are presenting their eclectic cuisines during the third annual Reno Bites Week.

The event is hosted by 23 local restaurants participating in 10 unique events, ending on Sunday.

Contests, workshops, live music and food samples from each of the restaurants’ unique menus will draw in families, aspiring chefs and students from the University of Nevada, Reno.

Although there is a variety in dishes, the restaurants are united in the purpose of encouraging involvement in the community.

The week of events will bring guests together and bring awareness of the culinary offerings around the city.

Speakeasy Cocktails and Bites – Oct. 14

Campo brings back the 1920s with handcrafted classic cocktails and their specialty appetizers. It begins at 6 p.m. at 50 N. Sierra St., and dressing up is encouraged but not required.

Bites and Brews Block Party – Oct. 15

Culinary experts Jessica Marrufo and Joseph Bell, from Wild River Grille, are teaming up with one of Reno’s newest breweries, Under the Rose. The team will put together a block party, starting at 6 p.m. on 17 S. Virginia St., featuring live entertainment, food choices and brews.

Dining in the Dark                  – Oct. 16

Tournament Pop Up’s team, led by Chef Bob Deinken, will put on a night of sightless tasting at 130 West St. Blindfolded, guests will have the opportunity to focus on the textures, tastes and aromas of their five-course meal.

Bluegrass, Bubbles and Bites – Oct. 17

Champagne will be served alongside handcrafted desserts and pastries from Homage Bakery’s Chef Nicholle Alumbaugh. Food will be served and live music will begin at 7 p.m. at 519 Ralston St.

Chef Showdown – Oct. 18

Czyz’s Appliance is offering up their showcase kitchens to allow eight of Reno’s community chefs compete for a bit of cooking fun. The event will begin at 2 p.m. at 9738 S. Virginia St. A fully-stamped passport will allow free entrance and enter you the chance to win exclusive prizes such as an overnight stay at Nakoma Golf Resort and Spa, or a private cooking class for 10 at Lanna Thai Culinary School.

The Official Showdown After Party – Oct. 18

Bistro 7 is hosting a post-showdown party at 6 p.m. at 7111 S. Virginia St. Chef Michael Woodall will be providing happy hour small plates, drink specials and live music.

Mozzarella Making and Build Your Own Pizza – Oct. 19

A pizza making class, put on by Chef Ian Madan at South Creek Pizza, will take place at 5 p.m. at 45 Foothill Rd. After crafting your own mozzarella pizza from scratch, a choice of the Reno Bites special, “The Sweetie Pie” or a build-your-own pizzas will be offered.
