It’s not often that bands of a similar genre are brought together in one place to put on one festival-like performance, but the upcoming SnoCore Tour promises to do just that.
Since 1996, SnoCore has been bringing notable acts, predominantly alternative rock bands, to cities across the nation. The 2015 tour is carrying that torch with Flyleaf, Adelitas Way, Framing Hanley and Fit for Rivals all billed to play at Knitting Factory’s March 10 show.
The four bands performing at SnoCore have become well-established in the rock and alternative scenes through the years. Flyleaf, a Texas-based metal band, is headlining the event. Flyleaf has been building on the success of their self-titled debut album ever since its release in 2005. Though they lost their original vocalist, Lacey Sturm in 2012, the band gained singer Kristen May in her place. Flyleaf’s most recent release is “Between the Stars” (Sept. 16, 2014).
Flyleaf isn’t the only noteworthy band on tour. Adelitas Way, a hard rock band from Las Vegas, will also be getting in on the action. Formed in the late 2000s, Adelitas Way hit their stride with “Home School Valedictorian.” Though it was their second album, they managed to far exceed the sophomore slump, instead garnering two No. 1 hits at Rock Radio, according to Chris Bell a PR representative at the band’s PR firm New Ocean Media.
Nashville’s Framing Hanley will also be performing at the winter music festival. After performing with bands such as Saving Abel and Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, the group acquired what became their signature frenetically edgy sound, according to an article from The Lost Horizon. The band is now promoting their album “A Promise to Burn” (May 25, 2014).
Rounding out the list of performers at the SnoCore Tour is up-and-coming Fit for Rivals. Though the heavily tattooed Florida rockers released their debut album in 2009, their sophomore effort “Freak Machine” is slated to be released sometime this year. The gritty rockers are sure to bring their spunky, confrontational rock ’n’ roll to the already stacked lineup.
Whether it’s a comprehensive gathering of alternative rock minds that catches someone’s fancy or just a plain old good time that revelers are seeking, the SnoCore Tour is a change of pace in the era of EDM. Tickets start at $20 and can be purchased at the door or online at re.knittingfactory.com.
