Wolf Pack football player Chris Green was arrested and charged on two felony counts on Friday morning according to Washoe County. He has been suspended from the football program.

The charges include soliciting a child for prostitution, and child abuse/neglect. He was booked by the Reno Police Department around 1 a.m.

Seeking child prostitution in the state of Nevada is punishable by one to four years in prison, and/or a fine up to $5000 if found guilty.

In a statement to Nevada Sports Network, associate athletic director Chad Hartley said, “Our department learned of this incident earlier this morning and we are working to gather more information.”

The 21-year-old from Los Angeles is in his senior year with the Pack. The defensive tackle started in five games during the 2019 season. 

Green’s arrest was part of a large investigation by multiple agencies; detectives and personnel from the Human Exploitation and Trafficking (HEAT) Unit, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, the Northern Nevada Regional Intelligence Center, Reno Police Department, Sparks Police Department, and University of Nevada Police were involved. The operation was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Northern Nevada Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force.

Other participants included the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the Nevada Highway Patrol, the Nevada Department of Corrections, and the Nevada Attorney General’s Office.

The goal of the operation was to identify and arrest those looking for minors for paid sexual acts.

In all, 28 men were taken into custody from a South Reno home. All suspects were arrested on felony counts of soliciting a child for prostitution, and attempted child abuse.

In a press release from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Department, it is stated that, “All the suspects arrived at a home in South Reno to knowingly engage in, and pay for, sex acts with a minor as identified through the HEAT Unit.”

During the weeklong sting, seven were arrested on Monday Oct. 5, followed by eight on Tuesday, five on Wednesday, and eight, including Green, on Thursday.

Of those arrested, 12 have posted bail.
