Nevada women’s soccer won their first conference game against Air Force Academy on Oct. 3. 

Nevada is now 1-2-1 and Air Force is 2-2. 

Freshman midfielder Caly Ah Soon had a quick shot to start off the first half at 00:22 for Nevada. Sophomore AFA defender Cassi Bych had two back-to-back shots that both went far out. Nevada goalie Kendal Stovall had the first save of the game from sophomore forward Jordi Ives, shot at 13:00. Forward Casey Crawford was substituted in for forward Taylor O’Neill, and Nevada immediately got a foul. This led to AFA having control over the ball. Junior forward Gabby Brown was then subbed in for freshman forward Emily Rich and instantly had a shot on goal. The shot to the bottom right was saved by goalie Cammi Bych. Even with the high number of shots by each team, Nevada with 6 and AFA with 8, no goals were made during this half.

Only two minutes in the second half, Rich was assisted by junior defender Kendall Riley for Nevada’s first goal. AFA took control of the ball for a short time with only two shots being on goal and the rest going far out. Rich had another goal at 79:24 with the assist by sophomore midfielder Lauren Muff. 

In this one game, Rich scored her first two goals of her collegiate play. 

Brown, who is a substitute, did as well as Rich with three shots and one shot on goal. She also had the longest time on the field out of the subs at 38 minutes. 

Nevada will take on the University of New Mexico at home this Friday at 6:30 p.m.
