Senior Quim Vidal Mora took first place as Nevada men’s golf competed in the Saint Mary’s Invitational in Pebble Beach, Calif. on Nov. 8-10.

The Poppy Hills Golf Club course is 7,002 yards and has a par 71.

Vidal Mora was under par in all three rounds of the tournament. His first round score was 70, second round was 65 and third round was 67. In total, Vidal Mora ended up 11 under par. These scores were very close to tying his personal best low round and low tournament score.

His lowest round is a 64, which was achieved at the Golfweek Program Championship in 2019. Additionally, Vidal Mora’s lowest score is a 12 under par, which happened in the same championship.

He was able to get a new career best tournament with his first place finish. His previous career best finish was in March where he tied for first in the Bash at the Beach. Vidal Mora was three shots ahead of Mitchell Hoey from Saint Mary’s, who placed second.

Senior Peyton Callens did well in the tournament as well. He tied for fifth place with a final score of four under par. Callens had scores of 73 in round one, 69 in round two and 67 in the final round.

The other three Nevada competitors had final scores over par. AJ Lintunen had +3, Trey Davis had +5 and Connor Motherway had +13. This was Motherway’s first time competing in a tournament this season.

Both Davis and Lintunen struggled in this tournament compared to their -2 finals in the last tournament, the Ka’anapali Classic Collegiate.

Nevada was able to pull off a fourth place win. Their finals for each round were 286, 279 and 280 for a total score of 845. Oregon placed first with a final score of 833.

The men will continue their season next semester on March 2, 2022 in Palm Desert, Calif.
