The Nevada Wolf Pack women’s basketball team snapped a three-game home winning streak as they could not stop the Rams offense losing 55-62.
The first half was all Colorado State with the Rams starting right off the bat on a 10-0 run with 7:52 remaining in the first quarter. Colorado State maintained their lead throughout the second quarter at halftime with a 30-23 lead over the Wolf Pack.
The thing that killed Nevada in the first half was the lack of ball handling, committing seven turnovers (12 in total). However, the Wolf Pack’s defensive effort would make the Rams go 4-11 from the field in the second quarter to cut Colorado State’s lead to 7 at the break.
In the third quarter, Da’Ja Hamilton stepped up for the Pack, scoring 11 points to ease the deficit down to just three points. With seven minutes remaining in the fourth and final quarter, Amaya West hit a pair of free throws to give Nevada their first lead of the game 51-50.
However, Colorado State’s offense would be too much for the Wolf Pack as they would score nine straight points. The Rams were fueled by Kendyll Kinzer’s three-pointer with 1:41 remaining.
After the game, the Nevada women’s basketball team honored the five seniors on the team in a postgame ceremony. They were Eliska Stebetakova, Da’Ja Hamilton, Amaya West, Kylie Jimenez and Nia Alexander.
Da’Ja Hamilton led the Wolf Pack with 19 points and four rebounds, while Amaya West finished with 10 points and seven rebounds. Off the bench, Audrey Roden had a productive game with eight points.
As for Colorado State, four of the team’s five starters finished in double figures. Upe Atosu was the leading scorer with 18 points in the game. Kendyll Kinzer had 14 points and Mckenna Hofschield finished with 12 points. Karly Murphy led the team in rebounds with 11.Up next, the Wolf Pack are back on the road to face the Boise State Broncos.
