1. Hi Point Coffee & Cafe Crammed into a strip mall at the top of Kings Row, Hi Point Coffee and Cafe offers fantastic breakfast, beverages and atmosphere. Under low-strung lights and amid a hodgepodge collection of vintage tables and chairs the ambience is quiet, easy going. Hungry breakfasters can enjoy an extensive, creative menu including fresh baked pastries, panini and vegan scrambles.

They offer various whimsical drinks using coffee and espresso from Wood-Fire Roasted Coffee Company. For the adventurous, Hi Point offers unique weekly brunches like the Mardi Gras monster of Creole shrimp louie salad, gumbo, hush puppies and bourbon pecan pie offered last weekend.

Prices range from a few dollars for pastries up to $17 for brunch.

Peg’s Glorified Ham n Eggs The food is good, the fresh-squeezed juice is incredible, but the lines at the original location on Sierra Street are out the door.

Good food is worth the wait, but Peg’s isn’t quite as good as the lines warrant–too many onions on the veggie benedict. Also, the atmosphere is so rushed a guilt free and leisurely morning is out of the question. If one of the locations runs quieter, keep it secret and keep it safe.
