Nevada Soccer’s 2-1 loss to the Boise State Broncos marked five-straight winless matches for the team.

After starting the season 3-0-1 in non-conference play, Nevada is now 3-4-2 this season.

Senior forward Angel Meriweather scored the lone goal for the Wolf Pack. Freshman goalkeeper Kendal Stovall tallied a season-high nine saves in the loss.

The Broncos outpaced the Wolf Pack in shots (29-12), shots on goal (12-2) and corners (8-2).

Boise State midfielder McKenna Kynett broke the scoreless deadlock at the 21 minute mark with a header that bounced to the back of the net set up by a cross from Ashleigh Harrison.

The Wolf Pack responded in the 46th minute, as Meriwether dribbled into the box and got a shot off from 10 yards out to the far post. The goal was Meriwether’s first of the season

The Broncos struck once again off the foot of Kynett for her second goal of the match, finishing another cross from Harrison. With 54:13 on the clock, Boise State lead 2-1.

Stovall recorded key saves in the 75th and 77th minutes, but Nevada’s offensive attacked failed to get across midfield thanks to several turnovers. Once the Wolf Pack reached the final third, Boise State’s defensive front —lead by Melissa Symmes— kept them in check.

Nevada’s best chance to salvage a point came down midfielder Eleanor Small’s kick that sailed over the crossbar, sealing the win for Boise State.

The Wolf Pack will travel to Logan, Utah to face off against Utah State Aggies Sunday, Sept. 23. Nevada returns home to Mackay Stadium Friday, Oct. 5, against the San Jose State Spartans.
