With a last name like mine, it was time to take a stab at the best Mexican food in Reno. These places were ranked on authenticity, price range and deliciousness. Without further adieu, here are the top five places to get Mexican food in Reno, Nevada.
When Reno got a Roberto’s in 2017, it was every Vegas kid’s dream come true. On opening day Roberto’s had so many people come to eat, they had to shut down because they ran out of food. Roberto’s has so many benefits because of it’s close proximity to campus. Whether you need some carne asada fries at 2 a.m. after a night out, or you need a quick bite to eat between classes, Roberto’s is the easy choice. Their menu has reasonable prices and since it’s open 24 hours. Anytime you want Mexican food, this restaurant is available.

Mi Casa Too is a great place to go when you want to grab a good meal with your family. Their menu is on the pricier side of a college student’s budget, but their food makes up for that. This is the place when you want a good authentic, home-cooked Mexican meal. Their salsa is unnervingly fresh and is the perfect mix of spices. Their enchiladas and chile relleno are killer and the portions are huge. When you eat here, you get more than you pay for, coming from a great family owned business.

I’d be lying if I said that people didn’t go to Miguel’s for their killer margarita deals. With over eight different margaritas, even people who shy away from tequila can find a drink they like. What I love most about Miguel’s is their extensive menu. There are so many options that everyone can find a meal they’ll enjoy. My favorite dish is their chicken mole. It’s really hard to find mole that has good flavor but is still savory –
Miguel’s reminds me of the mole my mom makes at home.

Tacos El Rey is a good middle ground between eating at a Mexican restaurant and getting fast food. Their meals are cheap and delicious which means they can be any college kids go-to spot. Whatever you’re craving, you can find on the Tacos El Rey menu. Their barbacoa tacos are to die for and they’re not too pricey. Their location is super convenient too because they’re on north McCarran near Walmart which makes them the perfect place to stop after stocking up on groceries.

Mi Ranchito is Reno’s best kept secret. This little hole-in-the-wall sits on Denslow Drive, which is walking distance from the university. Their classic street tacos are some of the best tacos I have ever tasted. Their staff is unbelievably friendly and always goes out of their way to make sure you’re taken care of. They have almost any type of meat available, and most seafoods available. Their pollo asado tacos and their lengua tacos are KILLER and will take you back to the very first time you fell in love with tacos. Their quality is outstanding and their prices won’t kill your budget which makes this my number one choice for Mexican food in Reno.
