Surrounding the University of Nevada, Reno, is a lively city full of unique local shops, delicious places to eat and a multitude of choices for entertainment. When students need a break from busy campus life, or just want to explore the city they call home, it’s nice to know where the best places are.

As a part of UNR’s Campus to City Initiative, the Associated Students started the “Pack Friendly Business” campaign in February 2016. The program connects the campus with local Reno businesses, offering sweet discounts and safe places for students to explore. Since its start, more than 50 local businesses have become pack friendly.

The businesses are easy to spot around the community. You only need to look for the white sticker with two wolves in the front window. Make sure you bring your student ID, just in case!

The Nest

If you’re looking to change up your style for the new school year, or want to add some flare to your normal outfits, The Nest on Keystone Avenue has unique one-of-a-kind vintage clothing pieces. They also have furniture, decor, and knick-knacks perfect for gifts. Students can get 15 percent off any item.

Reno ENVY

Reno eNVy is your one-stop shop for all things Reno, Nevada. Show off your love of the city with clothes and souvenirs, and get 15 percent off. These products make great gifts for family and friends that already have their fair share of Wolf Pack gear.

Juice Box Yoga

The area around Reno is full of great options for staying fit, healthy, and relaxed. If you want to escape crowded classes at the fitness center or meet more community members outside of campus, Juice Box Yoga offers 50 percent off drop-ins and 10 percent off regularly priced packages for students.

BaseCamp at Whitney Peak

If something a little thrilling is more your style, BaseCamp, a world-class rock climbing gym and fitness center in Downtown Reno is the place for you. The gym, which is home to the Guinness Book of World Records “World’s Tallest Climbing Wall”, offers a $12 Day Pass and free gear to students.

Freestyle Martial Arts Academy

From traditional martial arts, to Brazilian jiu jitsu, to freeform fitness classes, FMA is less than 15 minutes away from campus, and offers students a 10 percent discount.

The Rack

Nothing can beat a night of bowling and pizza with your friends. The Rack offers students 50 percent off of bowling and pizza and free bowling shoes. So gather a group together and take advantage of this sweet deal next time you’re looking for something to do.

Reno Bighorns

Calling all basketball fans! If UNR basketball isn’t enough to satisfy your love of the game, students get $5 Tickets to Reno Bighorns games. There is also a $49 Season Ticket deal.

Ijji

There is one thing almost every college student will splurge on: sushi. Why not lessen the finical burden with 10 percent off at Ijji sushi?

Beefy’s

Good burgers are not hard to find in Reno, but some of the best in town are found at Beefy’s, a tiny diner in Midtown. The food is great, and the atmosphere is even better. It’s worth it even without the 10 percent student discount. Don’t blink as you’re driving down Virginia Street or you might miss it!

Sup

If soup and salads are what you’re craving, head to Sup and show them your student ID for 10 percent off the choices on their delicious menu. Parking spaces and tables may be limited, but the fresh delicious food can’t be missed.

Yogurt Beach

UNR students are lucky to have a U-Swirl on campus, but if you want your frozen yogurt fix and a 10 percent discount venture out to Yogurt Beach. They offer different monthly flavors, fresh toppings and sauces, and you may even see some fellow students working there, so say hi!

Sierra Arts

The Reno community is home to a plethora of great artists and performers, and the Sierra Arts Foundation, a local arts agency since 1971, has spaces and venues throughout the community to promote and educate people about artists. A discounted membership is offered to students for $35, giving you access to a variety of events throughout the year.

Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum

The Discovery Museum is like Reno’s own mini Exploratorium. Though it is mainly geared toward kids, the museum is a lot of fun for the curious, creative, and young at heart. A one-year student membership is only $35.

Crafted Palette

Want to show off your creative side while enjoying some coffee or cocktails and time with friends? The “Paint and Sip” experience has taken off all around the country, but this local shop gives students 15 percent off classes.

AT&T Discounts

Phones. They’re one of the most expensive necessities students have. AT&T actually offers an 8 percent discount off monthly charges. All you need to do is visit an AT&T corporate phone store in the Reno/Sparks area. Identify yourself as a university student and provide the following account number, 90950, to qualify for the discounts.
